Say, what?

A CYNICAL LOOK AT THE DAILY GRIND

Monday, May 29, 2006

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU

Oh, what a glorious day.

Whatever the weather conditions may be wherever you are, it's a glorious day to remember all who have served this wonderful country and have sacrificed their lives for us.

Let us give thanks for their heroism.

Let us pray for them and hold their memory close to our hearts.

For they ultimately have given all that anyone could so that we might have such a glorious day to celebrate in the land of the free ... the home of the brave.

Amen to that, sister! We have family that served our great nation as well, and I was looking at some of their pictures just yesterday in the family photo albums. Step-father served in Korea and Grandfather saw active duty in WWI in France. Our great Aunt Louise’s brother-in-law died for his country when his plane went down in WWII saving his crew, by keeping his plane flying while his crew bailed out. He was recognized a true hero from his hometown in Ohio. Our oldest uncle served in the Philippines at the end of WWII, and our father and youngest uncle served this country afterwards. Our young brother served in the Coast Guard just a few years ago. We are so thankful to all the military men and women, and their families, who have given us their loved ones to keep us ‘free’.

I believe that those shorts in this photo have been donated to Disabled Veterans of Foreign Wars. Also that flag in the photo is my Dads casket cover as he served proudly in Korea, sad rememberances on a great day in May!
