THE BIGGEST LOSER

It took 16 minutes for Ohio death-row inmate Christopher Newton to die during his execution last month. The average time is around seven minutes.

The execution team stuck the prisoner, who insisted on the death penalty as punishment for killing a cellmate, at least 10 times with needles to get the shunts used to administer the lethal chemicals in place. Newton continued to talk, smile and laugh with the prison staff, and at one point was even given a bathroom break.

At 265 pounds, Newton's obesity explained the difficulty in accessing his veins, but was the dosage modified for his weight? Also, the lengthy time that passed before Newton succumbed suggests that the chemicals may not have been flowing properly.

Maybe we should make sure death-row inmates are healthy enough to be killed before we kill them.

maybe that will please those who believe a lethal injection is "easy way out" and a slow, messy death more fitting and a perverse vindication...especially if this monster made their loved one suffer...as far as obese death-row inmates receiving their last meals..how about skipping a few 'til meet the weight requirements...hey,there's a market Nutrisystem or Jenny Craig hasn't tapped into yet..tell the inmates that horizontal stripes add pounds and maybe go with vertical stripes while they're at it..

They should do some suffering, think about why they are in there and the people that may have lost their children, husbands, etc.
The longer they suffer the better.

Was Richard Simmons his witness at the execution? What an image....Richard, in his tight red shorty shorts, spewing tears and snot-rockets... doing jumping jacks to his newest DVD : Sweatin' to the Oldies on Death Row...yikes..even I'd say:"Just kill me now, please!"...

Lethal injection is too humane. I believe in an eye for an eye. We spend our hard earned money taking care of these loosers for years while we are waiting for justice! Disquesting.
