Say, what?

A CYNICAL LOOK AT THE DAILY GRIND

A NOT SO E-Z OUT

It fell under my front seat.

And, I didn't notice until the sign said "Go" instead of "Toll paid."

The heat inside my car had melted the plastic Velcro strips that hold my EZ-Pass whatchamacallit onto the windshield, leaving its structural integrity compromised.

It just let go ... twice.

You'd think after the first time I would have seen it had fallen off the next day,
too.

Sigh!

Now, I'm waiting for the E-ZPass police to catch up with me after they review the surveillance tape to slap me with a couple of $25 tickets for running a 35-cent toll.

I feel like such a criminal. Oh, the trials of a repeat toll evader.

One would hope the State Police have bigger fish to fry than a Granny toll evader.
I am usually behind knuckleheads who decide to search their car for loose change as they are sitting next to the toll basket. Two,three kids in a car frentically searching high and low for "jingles" to put in the basket. Are they any better with the church collection basket?
New York kids in their little
"high rev tuner" cars, speeding by,whipping a hand full of pennies.
Some will sit there,at the basket, fail to toss any change and then blow the horn and drive on.Remember the failed toll gate abomination on the Parkway some years ago? Do not pass,do not collect freedom until the money is in and the gate comes up.
...And anyway, why is it called a Parkway when we drive on it? Ever wonder? I have!

Will you continue to post blogs when you are incarcerated in the state penitentiary?

How would you like to get letters telling you did not pay the toll when some other family members were using your car?

Yup, just for once I'm post as A. Nonymous even though I'm sure you can tell who I am. And for this reason:

Ah, just either send them back their notices and check that you have a valid account, or tape the 35 cents to it and send it back (without the $25 charge).... One of two things will happen - eventually, they'll forgive this one transgression or they'll give up.

Seriously. I've received second, third, even collection notices for inadvertent violations, and each time I've checked I've had a valid account until they gave up.

The one time I forgot I didn't have a valid acct and went through it I just mailed them the toll when the notice came, not the fee, and haven't heard from them since....

But hey, if I'm wrong, and in the far-flung future they come after me, well, Ocean County Jail in TR _is_ in my zone I cover. I'll ask if the air conditioning is working there.

One time I rec'd 25 bills from E-Z pass in the same day, TOO FUNNY. What a waste of postage and time.
