Say, what?

A CYNICAL LOOK AT THE DAILY GRIND

WHAT'S HAPPENING TO MOM?

The Marine Corps is banning new tattoos on the lower arms and legs of recruits.

Many grunts say the tattoo rule is getting under their skin. If they're caught with new ink, it could mean up to two years in jail and a dishonorable discharge.

But the Corps says body art is supposedly harmful to its spit-and-polish image.

Semper Why?

Who wants a spit-and-polish image when you're face to face with your enemies after crawling around in the mud of a foreign country for the freedom of others. A tough Marine with a big skull tattoo on his right forearm might just be a bit more menacing, don't you think?

Mine, on the other hand, is only menacing to me as I watch it begin to take on a crepe-paper appearance with the aging process.

Well I see it this way ... they are fighting for "FREEDOM" and it is their bodies... Personally, I don't like seeing people with tattoos all over their bodies... but a small one here or there is fine.

Love the birdie. My tattoo covers up a scar.

Does that mean if there is a draft, unwilling recruits will be lining up en masse at tattoo parlors to get their lower arms and legs inked? How fast do you think the Marines' new policy will last then?

If I tried to cover old scars, I would be covered head to toe with tattoos!

excessive tattoos are just another way of makeing a statement. The only statements allowed in the military are yes sir and no sir.

Maybe they can tattoo "yes, sir, no sir" or "Boo-yah" to save them all time (and their voices)..
