THA...THA...THAT'S ALL FOLKS!
It's hearsay.
We got an anonymous call from someone claiming that Muslim cashiers at a local store are refusing to scan certain products against their religion such as pork and beer.
I'm just wondering what liquor store in New Jersey sells beer AND pork. Unless it's Slim Jims.
Then I'm wondering about all the Muslim cashiers at convenience stores like 7-Eleven. Will they soon refuse to sell Big Bite hot dogs? Will larger grocery stores with diversity-hiring practices have to set up a pork-free register to accommodate their Muslim employees?
Why can't Muslims try and find work outside the food and beverage industry? I mean, even nonpracticing Christians know it might grate a bit on their religious values to work at XXX porn shops.
And, when I go into 7-Eleven, I want my pork pronto!
Oh, Thank Heaven for ham and hot dogs!

If i go thru that line I will have to assume all my pork and beer is free! Where is this store? My refrigerator needs filling.
Do Catholics have the right not to sell birth control devices or morning after pills? Can divorce lawyers be Catholic? Can Muslim cab drivers refuse to drive a woman unless she is with her husband or a male relative? Do Mormons sell alcohol or tobacco?
My dietary practices are my own business and I wouldn't even think of telling others what not to buy or eat. Even people from the far east who eat animals we consider pets.
What we obviously need to do is forbid the sale of halal meat in Monmouth and Ocean counties, and prohibit Towel Heads from working in any convenience stores.
Odd, This entire topic seems like an "urban legend".
I find it unbelievable that someone would refuse to ring up items that were not allowed by their religious beliefs.
But,given the benefit of the doubt that this story is actually true...I would have fired that employee on the spot...union or no union!
Pork...great grilled with BBQ sauce and a cold beer!
If they dont want to ring it up as beer or pork, ring it up as anything else and pretend its not pork or beer.
If thats not good enough they can quit and find a job somewhere else
The story is true, was boadcast on Fox Cable news last night -I watched it-about Target store in I believe Wisonsin had some Muslim employees refusing to scan pork prods, it became newsworthy eventhough the Target mgrs obligingly took them off the registers and presumably do not need to stock pork/pigskin prods either..I agree, if against your beliefs, work in a Muslim convenience store (The Allah Dollah Store)..haven't heard of any Orthodox Jews refusing to scan pork prods, guess they have enough sense not to even apply to a position that would cross-contaminate them...this is pushing the limits of common sense and bending over backwards for political correctness...I wonder if Muslims are allowed to have Piggy Banks?
Moslems owned the Mom And Pop grocery Stores where we lived in NYC. They sold ''cold cuts"However, you saw no Moslem women selling in the store.
FYI:"Towel heads" (although I prefer not to refer to them this way) are from India and they practice the Hindu religion. They are not Muslim. Unfortunately, after 9/11 there were situations where very innocent people were tormented because people thought they were middle eastern muslims when in fact they were Hindu.
If they refuse to scan the meats let them find another job! Or why not just wear sanitary gloves?
Do keep in mind the white pharmacists that refuse to fill birth control items.
Glad you had a good trip to Fla...liked the Gator sign!
I agree, it's true, often go into whole foods in middletown to buy a bottle of wine after work, there is someone there who works as a cashier, who had to call someone else over to ring up my wine!
I also shop at the Whole Foods in Middletown and I would be infuriated if someone judged me and refused to ring up my wine. If that happens to me, I will definitely complain to management STRONGLY!!!! That cashier should not be in that position wasting other people's time!! If I have to wait for someone else to come over to ring up my order I will most definitely be shopping elsewhere. I know this is a free country, but these people are FREE TO GET JOBS THAT DON'T IMPACT THE REST OF US OR ENABLE THEM TO JUDGE US!!! Personally, I think they are rude and judgemental for throwing their beliefs in our face. I might just go shopping at Whole Foods more often and buy more wine until I encounter this cashier so I can make my point to management. Ha! Ha! (Obviously I'm in a bad mood today!)
wenyburgess, throw in some pork rinds too!
