A CYNICAL LOOK AT THE DAILY GRIND

BY THE NUMBERS

300 million Americans! Egads ... we need a plague!

I was hoping the spinach E. coli would at least thin out the multitude of irate drivers on the Garden State Parkway, but the scare pooped out in California.

Now we have 300 million people in this country (and another upcoming baby boomer generation) to contend with.

You tell me what good will come from having to provide services for so many people, and why are they all in front of me in line at the grocery store?

I may have to move to one of those square states in the Midwest to get away from everyone. Then again, I was here first ... let them move.

Hopefully, at the very least, this new generation will be paying through the nose into the beleaguered Social Security system just about the time I need it.

Hello from Kansas, one of the "square" states, really rectangular with a squiggle at the NE corner...)If you think you want to move out here, I have a lovely 4 BR 2 BA house in Lindsborg with a big front porch & sleeping porch upstairs and walk in closets - 1900 sq. ft. + a basement...want to trade??? I'm still a Jersey girl at heart. By the way, I think the Dollar Palace/WalMart comment came from Kansas. Barb 785-227-4331

Why dont we get rid of all the illegals and execute the death row inmates? That would thin out the population!

Today's paper said: "The moment, recorded at 7:46 a.m., passed with little fanfare, perhaps dampened by a divisive debate over illegal immigration and the fact that many experts think the population had already hit the 300 million mark months ago."

I welcome the immigrants, especially the hard-working ones. If my parents, who were immigrants, had not been allowed to enter this country, my family would probably have perished in Europe. New Jersey is the most densely populated state, and yet when I drive from Freehold to Princeton, all I see is thousands of acres of buildable land.

The problem is not the number of people per square mile, but the absence of planning.

There's always the pine barrens...we don't mind immigrants, it's the illegal ones clogging our system..300 million is just what legal census estimated, is probably closer to 325 million with the illegals..careful what you wish for..Korea has its eyes on us and who knows what crack-pot bio-terrorist has up his/her sleeve in way of the next pandemic..and you know who will perish?...everyone but the criminals and illegal immigrants..they are like cockroaches it seems.

How can there be so many people yet so many lonley people in need? Everyone keeps to themselves, to busy with their self important business instead of looking to help the next person. I'm sure you are all guilty of this. I read these blogs and find all these referrences to God and prayer and I wonder if any of you are actually out there contributing to the improvement of the human race. I hope its not just a lot of lip service. Illegal immigrants? Who cares. We all deserve the freedom to improve our situations. I couldn't care less if i have to learn to speak spanish. We should be welcoming all people and I should be able to live and travel wherever I please. The population will continue to grow all over the world not just here. Get out there and give someone a hand who needs it. Stop pontificating and start participating. Thats the only way any of us will thrive.

as microbiologist Pat Yanantong said: "We live in a closed system, planet Earth, and that our sheer numbers are soon about to overwhelm its ability to support us.
"We have met the enemy, and it is our sheer uncontrolled birth rates and numbers! Scientists have this Logarithmic Growth Curve well mapped out, where the population doubles in just a generation or two. Then, the Stationary Phase...where the pollution, lack of food and accumulation of toxins makes reproduction impossible or slows it to a halt. Finally, the Logarithmic Death Phase...where everything rapidly dies off in huge numbers.
"The solution isn't that bad at all ...try to adopt or just have two children and adopt more."
