WHERE'S THE PEANUTS?

A Thanksgiving meal provided to nearly 3,000 United Airlines workers as a way to reach out to disgruntled employees landed some in need of medical attention for nausea and vomiting.

Mechanics, baggage handlers and other employees working at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport were offered the meal that many said "was not edible."

Five people became sick after eating the catered meal that included turkey they said "didn't smell quite right."

The dinner was seen as a reconciliatory gesture from the company after unions criticized the airline for awarding tens of millions of dollars in pay increases and bonuses to top managers while employees took pay cuts to help the company survive.

Damn airline food.

This reminds me of one place I worked. The management was a disaster. Some workers were required to sign in and out just to use the bathroom. All workers were required to keep a paper log of every piece of paper they handled all day every day. Workers got memos telling them they must turn in fellow workers and their supervisors for any mistake they made. People who got to work early every day and then got caught in traffic or bad weather were punished when they signed in even a few minutes late. All employees received memos telling them to be happy. Not just look happy, but be happy in the workplace. They were told their supervisors would be watching to make sure they were happy. Staff members were told they were not allowed to laugh at work. They were also forbidden from quietly singing or humming to themselves while at their desk. Then, management throws a party and wonders why no one showed up! Duh!
